House of Daughters Book

Ah, what a question! So many amazing books and so much to choose from!! I do always like a good book to film adaptation. Half the movies that are out there have come from books and we all know why that is! Books are amazing and there are some pretty awesome ones that I would love to see turned into a movie. A lot of the books I have read have actually already been turned into movies but if I had to choose one that hasn’t, it would be House of Daughters by Sarah Kate- Lynch. It’s a totally random pick especially because I have read some pretty intense and best-selling books in my blog, but this one really stuck with me vividly.

House of Daughters Book

Set in the Champagne region of France, this charming novel follows 3 sisters, lonely & vivacious Clementine, sophisticated and clever Madeline & the warm and caring Sophie. Clementine is the rightful heir to the vineyard, the House of Peine, that has been in her family for generations. From a young age, she has spent all her life caring and working hard for these vines, as well as her grumpy & alcoholic father. Her father soon passes away, and to Clementine’s surprise, she learns that she must share the vineyard with her two half-sisters, one she’s never even known about and the other she has not seen for 20 years. The three sisters clash and struggle to save their family heritage while also dealing with their own personal problems. Eventually, they learn to overcome these issues…and I’ll leave it at that because I don’t want to spoil the ending!

The reason I chose this book is because of how vividly deliciously it played in my mind. I could literally feel myself being in the region of Champagne with these 3 women. Can’t you just imagine it? A lazy summery setting in France, warm sunshine, linen clothing, grape vines. It would be a total ‘feel good’ Summer movie. One that makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside after watching it. Also paired with a cooling glass of pinot and some cheese on a lazy summer afternoon. Pure bliss. I could also imagine the cast being quite fun! So maybe starring Julianne Moore, Suzanne Sarandon, or Julia Roberts, those type of strong female leads to carry the movie through. It’s a wonderful book too if you are ever after a nice story with family and all things wine then add this book to your list. I know it wasn’t hugely popular but I just adored this story so much. So it would be my pick for a book that I would love to see turned into a movie.
