Can you believe that we are going to be saying goodbye to 2019 in just a few hours? I am not sure I am ready for this year to end, but at the same time, I am ready for a new chapter to begin.
I am not sure what your 2019 was like, but mine was an entire jumble of everything! Here is a recap of what happened in 2019 for me!
Looking back at 2019 on the personal side
When 2019 began, we were staring down a move. We knew it was going to happen, just not when. When it did, it was a “we need you here tomorrow” move. In 30 days, we packed a house, found a place to live, cleared base housing, continued homeschooling and working full time, and somehow moved our family three hours down the road.
While this was not a huge distance move, it was big enough to cause a lot of stress. I was exhausted by the time it was over. While we were living in base housing, we had a lot of mold issues, so there were some health issues that went along with that, and still deal with.
As for homeschooling… well, after we moved, I decided that I just didn’t have the time for it anymore. So my kids went back to public school, and that was the worst choice I could have made! They were miserable! We hated the school, and they were doing nothing for my kids. Thankfully, someone told me about a small private school, The Marshall School, and they turned my kid’s education around! They now LOVE school, and we look forward to seeing what they will accomplish in the coming months.
Finally, we decided to buy a house. Cause you know, moving is apparently in our blood. So, we will have our house in March, and be able to move in, FINALLY. I am so very excited, and cannot wait! We will back up to a battlefield, which makes my history heart very happy. But first, we have to bid a proper farewell and say goodbye to 2019.
2019 from a work perspective
Work for 2019 was very interesting. I left a job in May. At the time, I was working as a project manager, and there were a lot of different factors that went into me leaving that position. I was needing something more permanent, with more income coming in, but I did enjoy the position for the most part.
Since then, I have been working with several different authors, on editing and social media work. Let me say, I absolutely LOVE IT. Editing makes me happy, and the social media part is something that I have always enjoyed. I am still leading a blogging team for another company and doing some editing work for two different companies, but my pride in the year was picking up the social media accounts for the school my kids go to. I have always loved social media, and I am pretty good at it (if I do say so myself, and so do the numbers), but working in something that can bring joy and pride as you watch things grow and see the effect of your work can really make a huge difference.
Finally, I have put out some applications for more full-time positions, but I do not plan to leave the social media or editing behind. These are things that make my heart happy, and I love working with the different authors and artists that come along.
Bringing 2019 to a close with books
I could never leave out the books! This year was a little lighter in reading for me, as there were so many different moving parts (literally moving parts), but I have started pulling my lists together for the coming year, making my resolution list, and planning on a heavy reading year.
I managed to read 185 books, with a little over 55,000 pages. I didn’t blog near enough on the books that I was reading, but I have some that are planned and will be laying out my blogging schedule over the next few days.
There are some fabulous books coming, and I cannot wait to share what I am going to be reading, as well as what I do read with you all. After all, most of us love books, and we enjoy the reading and sharing of beloved texts.
Saying goodbye to 2019
I have drawn this out long enough, and if you are still reading, THANK YOU! I have loved sharing this year with you, and I look forward to sharing even more with you in 2020!
While we stare down the last day of 2019, it can be fun to look back on great memories from the year, but I am really looking forward to the coming chapter and the many new adventures that are coming our way! What are you looking forward to the most in 2020! We are saying goodbye to 2019 and HELLO 2020!
